Melanie has literally never failed to disappoint me. I remember first listening to Doll House right when it came out, and thinking of literally how incredible it was because it was so different from other artists. Ever since then I stayed with Melanie. Even when we never heard from her in years it felt like, I knew she was going to pop off anytime. Sure enough, she did. Melanie means the absolute world to me. I'll be here with her forever.

This song makes me miss how I used to be. I used to be so happy, care free, and content with being lonely. Then I looked around and figured out that that was considered “undesirable” or “weird”. Now it hurts to not have friends. It really does. It’s painful to know that I’m alone.

Melanie is that type of artist, who doesn't sing about heartbreak, falling in love, another heartbreak and falling in love one more time. She sings about real problems and she knows how to do it. Mel doesn't make these problems pretty, and cool material for songs. She tells about problems in pretty way, and that's a difference. That's really helpful. When you have a bad day or problem, you know there's somewhere Melanie, who understands you. You're not alone. And I love her so much for this. Thank you Mel. I won't tell about how much her music is gorgeous, and she is so gorgeous, and her style, and her aesthetic. Personally I love that, but that's a subjective thing so you know. I relate to almost everyone of Mel's songs,but this one hits different. I didn't expect any song to describe my state in such a personal way. The lyrics perfectly reflect the emotions I feel in relation to relationships. Responsibility, anxiety, fear... I'm tired of hearing that only love is complicated. All relationships with others and with myself are. Friendship sometimes seems even more difficult than a relationship. Sometimes I feel terrified of myself at the thought of how much someone's life affects me, my feelings and so on. Sometimes I don't want to get into someone's life so much, but I worry and feel responsible for all of it. I have the feeling that without relationships life would be 100x easier, but on the other hand life without them is boring, bland and meaningless (which is also terrifying in some way). This feeling of uncertainty every time you speak, the fear that maybe you're not the best friend... all of this is tiring and overwhelming. Especially when you are overly sensitive or there are only one/two people you can trust. But on the other hand, there is always the risk that these people are not worth the trust. Or the feeling that you are not giving it your all and you are not enough. The word Glued describes this state really well. You feel attached, everything is built on emotions. You can't cut yourself off from it, but negative feelings don't let you sleep at night. Because even though you have a great time with the other person, you laugh sincerely and feel blissful, there is always this doubt and a lot of different scenarios. Relationships and life in general are beautiful and scary in every possible way. It's all just strange, you can't describe it in words. So.
