This is one of the reasons why I love Melanie. While many singers making songs just bout love, crushes etc.. Melanie is writing & singing songs about everyone afraid of talking or ignoring. Orange Juice - speaks on eating disorders and how the way you look is so fine. Teacher's Pet - the song speaks on pedophilia, grooming, and inappropriate teacher-student relationships. Strawberry Shortcake - The song is about how many girls are taught from a young age that they are only valued if they are attractive to men. This regularly causes them to feel insecure about how they look since they do not fit society's standarts. And there are so many songs i didn't count. Note 1 : I am not saying "everyone" or "every other artist" I am saying "most artists" just sings about love, crushes etc. Of course there are some other artists too who sings about things instead of love. But I just want to take a moment and appreciate Melanie. Note 2: I am not saying she only sings about "things instead of love." Of course I know she sings about love too but my point is not that. My point is she also sings about things everyone afraid of talking or ignoring. She "*also*" sings about stuff other than love, which is so great. And I appreciate her for that. Thanks for taking the time to read this. It means a lot and I appreciate you for that.

"Feeling guilty for eating when you're hungry is like feeling for breathing when your lungs need oxygen. We've literally been taught to be ashamed or our basic human needs. Refuse to feel the shame. You are allowed to eat. " Can we appreciate the effort she puts into spreading these words real quick? No matter how much flaws you hold, or what you think are imperfections to yourself. Just remember there will always be at least one person out there who loves you for those so called flaws, and they see them as unique traits that make yourself YOU. Please let these words have an impact on you or perhaps share these words

what an artist. melanie is literally changing the history of the music industry, in addition to telling the story of cry baby, with just one movie she managed to seriously portray subjects like bulimia, harassment, objectification of celebrities, pedophilia, psychological torture, transphobia, racism, verbal and physical aggression, psychological harassment, self-esteem problems and it doesn't end there, but the list is long. this woman is doing something never seen before, the representational space she is slowly conquering makes me feel comforted. she deserves the world.

22 yo male here. I suffered bulimia when I was 19. My worst and most memorable experience was when I just went to go see a movie with my friends. We later went to Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen. My friend offered to pay for me because I didn't have a job. I got the sirloin steak, chicken tenders with corn and fries. It was delicious, and after a fun half hour of chatting, we went home. My friend dropped me off, and when I went inside, I immediately ran into the bathroom with a sense of guilt from eating all that food. I threw up all the food into the toilet, and sat there crying because it was so painful. I wasn't crying, my body was, from the lack of substance and the torture my mind was putting me through. Later that year I became a personal trainer, and I've learned so much. I chose to help others with their body, and help them achieve their goal, and make sure they aren't alone. Edit: i forgot i posted this, you are all so sweet and kind. I've been doing a whole lot better and I've come to peace with myself. I still have lots of stretch marks from the rapid and severe weight loss, but I've come to terms with it as a piece of my past 💗💟💙

People think Melanies crazy, but I want to say one thing. She's not crazy or mental like people think. And she didn't have a bad childhood. Melanie is not cry baby. Melanie portrays cry baby as a girl who faces real world problems from a child's perspective. This doesn't make cry baby crazy either. What I'm trying to say is Melanie uses crybaby and music to talk about serious issues. Plus her music videos and lyrics have so much meaning, and what most people get off from it is that melanies some creepy mental person, but those people are naive not to see the true meaning of her songs. By the way I know this is from the k through 12 album, but most of the stuff I say still applies to this song, plus I just felt like I needed to get that out there.

@h a h a bulimia it's a eating disorder that the person that have it have a compulsion to eat. Like, they never wants to get weight. and when they eat, they vomit it so the food can get out of their stomach. People that have prefeer to eat more light foods, just like Fleur, that eats oranges because it's a simple food, you know. But they still vomit this. excessive fasting, not do exercises like running and riding a bike are one of the things those people do (or not) I think it's better for you to search 'bout it because maybe I explained something wrong. But it's basically that.

@chromberries7329 5 жыл бұрын
Vee Reebel that's a bad statement. not all people with anorexia or bulimia are skinny. sure it'll lead to you eating up all your fat, except I'm sure you could die before you reach stick skinny. also it's bad because... melanie doesn't have an ed? but she's skinny. and you shouldn't glorify having a nice body through ed, which all these girls have. because I found found in my own experience, it didn't get me a good body, I looked like a 12 year old boy who plays basketball.
@chromberries7329
@chromberries7329 5 жыл бұрын
Vee Reebel bro being passive aggressive is unnecessary. my comment that you commented on first, was about how there wasn't any diversity... odd for a song trying to preach self love. then you came tearing through with "it's about bulimia, the girl has bulimia!!" like tf not what I was talking about. not talking about the girl spitting up oj in the bathroom. I was talking about chicks in the field. and I can read. don't get confused. but, what I got from your og comment was essentially, "this song is about bulimia, bulimia=skinny, ofc they're skinny" which, is not a fault on my part. your comment was so irrelevant all I could be expected to get from it was that. also, I realize I don't know melanie. I used to be a fan in 2015 or something... anyhow, yes she could have an ed but if she hasn't explicitly said anything and nothings been confirmed why assume? that's such a horrible argument. "you don't know her! she could have one!" yeah she could but that has nothing to do with this song's imagery.
@chromberries7329
@chromberries7329 5 жыл бұрын
Vee Reebel honey, I never was talking about that girl in the first place. I was pointing out that dumbass #1 mentioned the "diversity" amongst the girls.... yeah right. I have no context whatsoever, didn't watch mels shit movie, and I think we should abandon the whole "melanie and ed" conversation because it's a cesspool and not relevant whatsoever. it's too bad you can't read the first fucking sentence and comprehend it too. but I won't baby you further.

But my mother was 1 to hand me the tissue and scale. She told my friends that women have to do what we have to sometimes to not be fat. I truly wish no one ever experiences eating disorders, if you do I hope you have support & help. I'm 5'8" and 190lbs with my mother still passively aggressively trying to get me to lose weight. Look at the size of her, the doctor would just laugh her out if the room, she’s clear not lost any weight from it” and then laughed, (I was only somewhere between 9 and 10 st, not obese for my height) she would say things like “you’ve got an “eating too much” disorder” she would scream at me that I’m just doing it for attention, it took me until six months ago to stop believing what she said and make the effort to get better, in a few months I’m going to be moving out to university and I’m going to make an appointment with a university councillor and finally get some support it’s been almost 5 years since my ed started but I feel like I’m finally starting to make steps towards recovery

Mothers are supposed to be the ones who love and support us, but truth be told there are so many out there that are just fucked up (excuse my language). I didn't have an eating disorder from my mom, but she abused me in other ways. It's also sad that so many get defended because they birthed us, as if that's a good reason.

Despite this song being kinda sad, it actually makes me really happy when I hear it! when I went to see Melanie in Manchester, she threw orange peel in my direction and it hit my shoulder and after that it smelt like oranges and that’s the first time I’ve ever been to a concert that’s given me a scent to help me remember ? If that makes sense Especially bc before she threw it, everyone in my section smelt so sweaty (we was in standing) and it’s like she literally blessed us with the smell of fruit we stan

For people who have eating disorders think they are fat and they are insucure. And when the girls in the field pull down her dress to say love yourself and thats why they hugged Melanie. And she ran away because she doesn't deserve it. I don't know. It's something I have been saying to myself.

I just figured out something in the field, Mel was wearing the skirt because she is insecure about her body and the girls pulling down her skirt were try to get her to see that she is beautiful and when she ran away it was because she was embarrassed and thats just a little theory i have about the meaning of this song. its about people’s body insecurities and why some people have anorexia and other eating disorders. Its because they are insecure about there bodys. Btw: Love u Mel!! ❤️

If you like that quote pls check our Messages from the masters by Brian Weiss! Many of the quotes in the movie are based around his books and the beliefs he has on life :) that particular quote is based off one of his sayings in the book, it’s like “our bodies are temporary, they’re only a vehicle for us while we’re here” meaning we aren’t one body, we’re a soul who goes through many lives/many bodies :)

Meaning of the song Orange Juice 🍊 Orange Juice is a song about the bulimic character in K-12, Fleur, which is also a character in Kelly's group. The very main reason she has Bulimia because Kelly forces her to get the "ideal body" by making her purge after eating. This song also refers to a friend of Melanie that fights with Bulimia. 🎵"Oh, oh, stick it down your throat"🎵 This line refers to purging (vomiting your food after you ate, to avoid getting fat) which is a feature in Bulimia, the song's topic. The lines 🎵"now you're sitting in the cafeteria, shoving Clementines and orange bacteria, down your throat a dozen time or near yeah"🎵 refer to binge eating and then purging, just like the previous explanation. 🎵"Fooling those around of your Bulimia"🎵 Bulimics binge eat in front of their surroundings that makes them think nothing's wrong but manage to keep their purging as a secret, as they don't see them do it afterwards. 🎵"You turn oranges to orange juice, enter there then spit it out of you (ORANGE JUICE) 🎵 By the meaning you turn oranges into orange juice, you consume solid food and then purge (again, bulimic tendencies) it out and make it the "juice" in the song. (Bulimia is also called binge-purge eating disorder). 🎵"Your body is imperfectly perfect, everyone's wants the other one's working No orange juice"🎵 When Melanie wrote this, she meant that despite not having society's ideal body, the imperfections in some people's bodies make their imperfections something unique and special. Melanie explains in this pre-chorus that you must accept your body as the way it is, because if everyone wants somebody's body, they're gonna complain about what they have. 🎵"Please say that you won't continue, Ordering oranges off the menu Stuffing up your mouth with t-t-tissue"🎵 These lines refer again, to people with eating disorders (i.e. Bulimia, Anorexia). The lines mean that people with eating disorders sometimes eat inedible stuff such as cotton and tissues to feel more dubbed up, which is also called a "Cotton Ball Diet". Individuals which are a part of this diet will soak cotton balls into beverages which one of them is orange juice. The way Melanie wrote t-t-tissue in the lyrics imposes the sounds of sneezing, choking and coughing (on tissue/cotton ball, as previously mentioned). 🎵"The way you look is not an issue"🎵 People with Bulimia or any other related eating disorder are mostly dysmorphic and have a hard time noticing their actual weight. Melanie wrote this from a point of view of a surrounding telling someone that they are not fat, or look bad. In eating disorders (Ideal beauty type, "wanting to become thin") dysmorphia and low self esteem comes into play which means that those with eating disorders see their body differently than others. 🎵"Ooh, I wish I could give you my set of eyes 'Cause I know your eyes ain't working, mmm I wish I could tell you that you're fine, so fine But you will find that disconcerting"🎵 Very commonly, people with eating disorders most likely have low self-esteem and dysmorphia (as previously mentioned), meaning they do not see themselves the way others do. If you read it until here, thank you! It took me a long time to write this. 😌 Please, let me know if I got anything wrongfully. Some lines are missing because the meaning repeats itself over them. With all honesty, I think Orange Juice is the song with the deepest meaning in the album which created a huge impact on me that motivated me to write its whole meaning. 🍊 Have a good day! 🌸🍊

I suffer from eating disorders. For over maybe 10 years. I'm fighting against bulimia nervosa, and anorexia, both painful and definitly tiring. When I first heard this song, I didn't really know what to think about it. I was kind of disconcerted, as she tells it in the song. It slowly became one of my favourite songs of Melanie. It slowly became one of the reasons I'm still fighting against my ED now : Melanie is right, the way I look is not an issue, and eating should not be that bad to me. Thank you for this song, and for these lyrics that became a true mantra to me

finally someone said it, like taylor swift she does break up songs also mostly everyone talks about relationships and Taylor talks about that, it really isn't creative. but u need to respect someone even if its type of music u don't like someone told me

@@MelanieBuddies._.Taylor does sings about more than relationships, even early on in her career.

@@MelanieBuddies._. It's the singer's choice what to make their songs about,even though you prefer Melanie's songs you shouldn't call Taylor's songs less creative. In my opinion they're both really good

The moment where they switch eyes hit me so hard. They both hate themselves but see each other as beautiful. When they switch eyes they get to both see each other’s true beauty for the first time. It gives me chills.
