I'm so grateful that she made this song. We always talk about people dealing with drug addictions but never the people who have to struggle to help them. I know someone who was offered all the help we could give, almost every last ounce of help, and kept taking advantage of the help. We knew the addiction was a "cry for help" but we exhausted everything we could do they had no other choice than to help themselves. Thankfully they went down the route of recovery after the last attempt of help. Dealing with someone who is struggling with a drug addiction you struggle with them, it hurts to see them like that. It took a heavy toll on my own health. Thats why I love this song so much, to me it represents the battle of trying to help and it reminds me of what could've happened if that help was never taken. Please if you are struggling with a drug addiction do not make the people trying to help you struggle as well. It is yours to decide whether you are going to take that help or not. Please please take it, it will be hard but it will be so worth it.

My husband has a friend who keeps falling back into coke no matter how much people help him. My husband recently had to cut contact even though they've been like brothers since they were kids (the guy even lived with him for years in high school) i showed my husband this song and he loved it. He really resonated with it. Drug addictions never just hurt the person doing them.

god, this is such an emotional rollercoaster. powder explores the struggles of being in a relationship with a drug addict. when somebody is addicted to drugs, it can be hard for them to stop. she understands that sometimes people who are addicted don’t want to quit, but internally know they need to. shes such a lyrical genius.

This is probably one of my favorite songs of the whole album. Something about it just speaks so much to me

this song speaks to me so much. i dealt my mom's heroin addiction from when i was eight years old to when i was 12, although being a song about cocaine addiction it still brings the same emotions through and i cry everytime i listen to it or sing along. i found Melanie's music when i was eight years old and always connected to her music so much but this song takes it. i love the detail of her distorted almost muffled voice in the beginning to symbolize the person struggling through addiction being so clouded and unaware of themselves while you're stuck trying to help them out of their cycle and i love how her voice gets a bit more clearer towards the end (after the sniffing noises). everything about this song is so perfect to me

I love this song. One of my favourites of the album. When I first listened to it it made me so emotional and took me to another world. Is just so beautiful and pure, just like Melanie. She truly makes masterpieces❤

I really like this song because the vocals are different, it shows character growth / it matches the meaning of this song. Melanie is basically describing how someone who is struggling with a poor addiction or other destructive behaviours. The lyrics suggest that the person who is struggling needs help but they refuse to seek it. As you can hear, “Powder” is repeated multiple times in the song which could be a metaphor for drugs or a symbolism for destructive behaviour that the person is engaging in. Therefore, it could mean a toxic relationship that Melanie is singing about. 🤍🕯️
