This song is so underrated and it’s such a shame. The whole production is beautiful. Her vocals in the beginning, the echo of the “just remember”. Goosebumps every time.

In the start of the movie, melanie walks into a room with a load of ghosts dancing. That is literally what would of happened here if those ppl kept on dancing. And when Melanie sneezes, all the ghosts walk towards her, as that door opening is them finally getting to escape. The principals son says “dance until u die” that is a literal representation of what could of happened here. Or, this could of already happened in another dimension where Melanie and her friends didn’t save all those kids. They died and are then stuck in that room. Melanie then goes to the school and the whole thing happens, this time, she saves them and they don’t end up stuck there forever ; in the middle of all that, she sees the past people who got stuck in that room. This is all just a theory, none of it is actually the storyline or intended by Melanie. But I’m so bored in quarantine, I came up with it. I had a depression called dysthymia which made me extremely tired but I had to keep going on and solve all my problems and duties, have good grades in the university, work in my internship... I think the song is about celebrities. ‘People gonna say, if you need a break someone will take your place’: Basically if a songwriter or artist takes a break (i.e. leaves the scene for a while, no matter the reason), someone else will come along and steal their spotlight. People won’t wait for them to come back, they’ll move on and the artist is no longer relevant. ‘People gonna try to tell you that you’re fine, with dollars in their eyes,’: Record companies and those close to them will tell them they’re fine so they don’t get out of business when they take a break. If they leave and become old news, they won’t get money. The rest of the chorus is basically Melanie saying it’s okay to take breaks; after all, she did and she’s now even more relevant and popular than she was.
