people say that she is turning childish things inappropriate, when she is really spreading a big message. That message is that people should not be judged by what they look like and that people should not be changing themselves just to impress others. This is why she is such an inspiration, she teaches so many valuable lessons in her songs, and for some people it’s hard to get the message.

I started even before hitting the play button, since then I've been reading the comments and repeating the song for almost an hour, even when I was supposed to do other things. But it is what happens to me with this type of subject. I can't handle them, I have a limit and the line is over. In your case, there may be no going back. But what there is, is another way out. You could try to convince your parents to change schools for you. That was my solution. I hope you are better now and in the future you can find that those around you respect, value, appreciate and love you for who you are for all what you worth. Good luck ❤️. I wish the people who inhabit the world were different, so as not to force anyone against their physical or mental integrity. Do not humiliate, do not mistreat, do not attack, do not abuse. In order not to make people like me sometimes just want to stop breathing in the bathtub with the water up to the brim. Thank you very much to all the comments on this video and to the fans of this wonderful singer as well, including her. It helps. After the painful daily assaults amon others that exist everywhere and that too many pass in silence, it is truly moving to see that there are people like you and yourselves. Too bad they are not everywhere. And that where they are needed there are others who are completely alone, and isolated. I wish all of you light, peace and love in your life.

This is one of my favorite songs because not only is the melody amazing, but because it shows a deep message, revealing some things that aren’t being talked about enough. One of the lyrics “Got sent home to change cause my skirt is too short” shows how women are the ones being blamed rather than the men. Instead of teaching boys not fucking harass girls, the girls are taught to not express themselves truly because they might get hurt. Like what type of society is that? Can’t we all just live in peace without having to worry about getting harassed while walking down the street? This is even an issue in court where the answer is obvious, but people still ask questions like, “why didn’t you say no?” or “why didn’t you say anything earlier?”. I’m sick of women constantly being blamed, harassed, and hurt because men can’t get themselves together and respect fellow human beings. 90% of people who are sexually harassed are women, and 60% of women have been sexually harassed. This needs to stop now.

@@read.with.rupkatha It's the reason I love this song. I am getting sexually harassed by a boy at my school. AND IM ONLY IN 6TH GRADE KEEP IN MIND! I have asked him to stop and he never did. NOW here comes costume day and all my friends wanted us to be a group of animals and I was a tiger. We all had skin tight full body costumes and overalls on and AS SOON as I walk into my third period, he looked at me and didn't stop. And since I'm 13 I have a little bit of breasts. And keep in mind it is SKIN TIGHT. So I felt very uncomfortable that whole day and finally in my band class in seventh period I say to him " Oh my God stop staring at me like that!!! " He asked why... HE ASKED. WHY SHOULD HE STOP LOOKING AT ME!!! I got so mad at that and screamed at him " BECAUSE ITS CREEPY PERVERT!! YOU DONT GO AROUND LOOKING AT GIRLS BREASTS ALL DAY! " And then he said back to me " Well it's your fault for wearing that. " And keep in mind I have told my teachers about it but they have done nothing but agree with him. He still goes to my school. @@Omuhraun We all know it, the sheath is reprehensible in both cases, it's wrong, I know, but many people believe that it's normal for many men (I am not saying all) do this to women, it's not normal, it's wrong. You musn't have to make ridiculous comparisons, what you have to do is eradicate these thoughts and obviosly dont hypersexualizing bodies of both men and women. If you are over 16, I recommend you watch the movie "I'm not an easy man", it is a well done example of how to make a feminist movie.

This is honestly my fav song from k-12. It just tells the reality that the boys aren’t taught to keep their hands away but instead the girls are taught to cover themselves. Cover their whole ass personality. Our whole life is being afraid of someone touching us without our consent. We have to be scared because ”it’s our fault”

Okay, I highly disagree with the "Oh, you're covering me up? I guess you're covering up my personality too!" Unless they are over the age of 18, kids (of all genders) should just not be showing so much skin. Basically saying that personality is being almost naked is a weird thing to suggest. You can definitely show your personality through your clothes and still have it be an appropriate thing to wear. But that's just my opinion.

@cactus I agree with your point on society's standards for men, being 6 foot, dominant, and assertive. That i know is a thing for men, and I'm glad you acknowledged that and society's standards on girls too. I guess what I'm trying to say is both sides have standards and try to conform to them. But I think there's a bit more to it. Girls are constantly having ads that don't show normal things like acne and stretch marks, how they need to be curvy and skinny in the right places, social media hasn't helped either in a lot of ways. Girls do feel pressure to be prettier a lot of the time so whats wrong with them dressing in a way that makes them feel pretty? Men are constantly told to be dominant and assertive, making the first move. I don't care if men compliment women in a polite way, asks them on a date, I don't even care if their biological tendencies happen, even with the whole rebellious expectation society has for men if both people are cool with it and know eachother. What I think most women don't find okay is when people say some stuff that is unnecessary and creepy, even the girls who like bad boys feel uncomfortable when a stranger who they don't know starts doing the whole assertive act. I'm sorry if this is long or came off aggressive but its just a bit of perspective.

Yes, see this comment, OOHH, I jus love it so much, it gets me into another conversation. If you go to a public swimming pool, you have to wear a top and bottom if you are female. If you are male, you have to wear only bottoms. Why is this required? This is so stupid to me honestly. Most people in my life tell me I’m overreacting, but I know I’m not, if men who have bigger tits than women can walk around shirtless, I believe women can do the same. Seriously. It’s stupid. Same with the scenario of it being a hot, sticky, day, and all a female wants to do is just rip their shirt off. But they can’t. That’s illegal! :/ But males who are hot and sticky on that day, have no problem whipping their shirt off. Again, stupid. When I was little, I remember always wanting, AND SAYING, that I wanted to take my shirt off so badly. Even just around my family. Even my cousins, and other female relatives laughed in agreement. Then why don’t we? It’s so odd. We can handle a male who has a bigger chest then most females(for example) to be walking shirtless, but we can’t do the same for females, just because there is a bit of fat there that provides milk and is a natural thing for some reproduction? Even males who don’t have a big chest, or are fat, and maybe have nothing there, ITS FAT, ITS A PEICE OF FUCKING FAT. This topic is my most important argument for me personally. Maybe we’ve progressed to far into modernness. It’s just such an ignorant and dense law. I also don’t care at all, because most likely, women don’t mind wearing tops, that doesn’t change the fact though that it SHOULD NOT BE A LAW. I really really do want to make petitions for these things, or at least men have to follow these requirements, because both gender’s skins should be treated equally!! We shouldn’t act as if men’s skin is something carefree, doesn’t - matter - if - you - show - it - off shit, and then turn around and tell women that their skin is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT, and you need to hide it, OOOOOHHHH WAIT. But also DON’T hide it! See what I mean? Men can’t even make up their minds them selves. My final message to get to every ignorant, and laws, brain, is that EVERY GENDER’S SKIN SHOULD BE TREATED THE SAME, NOT ONE LESS FRAGILE THEN THE OTHER, NOT ONE LESS TOUGH THEN THE OTHER. Thanks for anyone who survived this long rant! ;) Edit: I’d also like to add I know that in ONLY 6 STATES it’s legal to have no top. Another not fun fact, is that women are literally arrested in some places for having the wrong BATHING SUIT!!

This reminds me of an extremely uncomfortable memory from when in primary school we went to the swimming pools.. I was sexualised back then and I didn't even understand it fully but I knew it made me feel unsafe, uncomfortable and unhappy, and it still affects me to this day. Not just that but I stopped wearing certain clothes in my adulthood that I enjoyed wearing aka gothic clothes like corsets and stuffs because I would get harassed by people all the time (or the nasty kind of attention) and they'd sexualise me (even call me a whore and such) and I was just wearing clothes I wanted to wear cause I enjoy them, it doesn't help that I have big boobs too :/ I hope that anyone who has been sexualised and sexually harassed/assaulted when just being themselves will be okay, its not okay that this bullshit happens to you, I dont care what sex or gender someone is you deserve to feel safe and happy in your own skin and clothes and to not be treated this way..

look hun, your mom is just protecting you from danger. ofc its not your fault, but she's protecting you from the society outside. ik you want to wear what you like, but elders are more wise, so its important to listen to them. in the end you'll know that your parents did this and that for a reason

I was sexually assaulted and my mom blames me for trusting him. If I didn’t go to his room in our house to watch a movie, it wouldn’t have happened. This is after she’d been pressuring me to trust him and to make him my friend. Long story short, I had to realize that she’s wrong and when I said “no,” pushed him away, etc. it should have stopped. This is how our society is. Blame the woman when the man overpowers us. Blame the clothes, the decisions, anything because God knows the men just can’t be taught not to grab, not to overpower, to stop, to listen, to be decent.

Lyrics: Feeling unsure of my naked body Stand back, watch it taking shape Wondering why I don't look like Barbie They say boys like girls with a tiny waist Now, my mama's preaching to make sure I'm pure But, I never really cared about that shit before Look around the room to whoever wants me Got boys acting like they ain't seen skin before Got sent home to change 'cause my skirt is too short It's my fault, it's my fault 'cause I put icing on top Now, the boys want a taste of the strawberry shortcake That's my bad, that's my bad, no one taught them not to grab Now, the boys want a taste of the strawberry shortcake Gotta make sure that my legs are shiny Hot wax melting, burn my skin People all around me watching closely 'Cause it's how I look and not what I think Mikey's eyes seem to be glued to her chest So, I'm stuffing my bra so that mine look the best It's my fault, it's my fault 'cause I put icing on top Now, the boys want a taste of the strawberry shortcake That's my bad, that's my bad, no one taught them not to grab Now, the boys want a taste of the strawberry shortcake Instead of making me feel bad for the body I got Just teach him to keep it in his pants and tell him to stop Sayin' it's my fault, it's my fault 'cause I put icing on top Now, the boys want a taste of the strawberry shortcake That's my bad, that's my bad, no one taught them not to grab Now, the boys want a taste of the strawberry shortcake
