The way she portrayed the suicidal thoughts, the feeling of being trapped, being bound, being lost in all your thoughts, the overthinking… anxiety is so hard to deal with and she managed to represent it so well! Love her.

When first watching this, I thought it was a weird way to visually represent the meaning behind void, rebirth by escaping depression and anxiety and an old version of yourself, but when you rewatch it you notice all the little hidden details and symbolism that Melanie uses to express herself. In the first scene, Crybaby, or Melanie, pushes herself out of a heart, and becomes a new creature, both showing the rebirth of Crybaby as a new creature, and how Melanie is letting go of an old version of herself. She then enters a door while looking behind her, making sure she's not being followed, and runs into the Void where she is chased by herself, or at least creatures that look similar to her. She then goes into another room where I can only assume she's watching herself incubate, and appears to be judging herself before she's even a new person. The creatures then hatch and just menacingly watch as she crawls away and falls into a new room full of bugs. In the room there is what looks like a window where you can see a bright star, and because we know Melanie likes to put tarot card references in her music videos, when you look up what the star means it says that upright it can mean faith and hope, but reversed can mean insecurity, discouragement, and faithlessness. The bugs in the room represent her insecurities and she takes a sword to one of the bugs and it flowers grow out of the bugs wound, which could represent the card being turned upright by letting go of insecurities and discouragement, and having faith and hope for a new beginning. She then falls through a tunnel, and somehow has a g-n, a sh00t5 herself and moths come out of her, and moths can represent change, transformation, endings, and death. She then falls out of a tower and the video end, but the tower is symbolic as well, the Tower Tarot Card upright represents disruption, change of life, and awakening, showing that she has completely left her old self behind, and is ready for a new life. That's just what I could interpret from the music video, but art is for the viewers to interpret however they'd like to, so I'd like to hear what other people think!

I am grateful for this new album, not only do we get to see such an amazing artist grow...But we grow with her. Some of us have been with her since crybaby, and a lot of us stayed the same since k-12 but with portals...We all have been growing. Going through each and every Melanie Martinez song is such a emotional roller coaster. One that I think all of us can enjoy. I remember listening to my first melanie martinez song in 2nd grade. I am now in highschool. Melanie Martinez had been my coping mechanism in a dysfunctional family. My family had often fed into my insecurities, so in order to mute them out I would listen to Melanie. To me, the Void hits all of those wounds in such a beautiful way. I have listened to every song out in this album...And it is truly amazing. Thank you Melanie Martinez for raising me when nobody else did... For me...K-12 made me realize how bad my eating disorder was, with the song known as "Orange Juice" when I listened to that song I remember breaking down sobbing...Not only did it help me through my eating disorder but it also helped me through my insecurities when I was beginning my teenage years. Dollhouse was the first ever song I listened to from Melanie, and it is the most heart wrenching one for me to look back on. Since it reminds me of what I came from. To most people these are all just songs, but to me this is something deeper, because in all honesty...I would not be here if I hadn't stumbled upon "Dollhouse" that day. Melanie truly deserves #5 music trending...In fact I think it should be higher.
